Most of the visit centres on time spent close to the elephants: watching them move around the sanctuary grounds, hand feeding them seasonal fruit, and listening to the guide's stories about each animal's background and rescue. The pace is unhurried, since there are no rides or shows scheduled through the day, only time with the herd.

The journey to and from the sanctuary passes through forest, farmland and countryside views along the Mae Taeng Valley, a scenic run in its own right. An English-speaking guide travels with the group throughout, and accident insurance, drinking water, and seasonal fruit and snacks are provided for the day. Seasonal fruit and snacks help keep energy up between the feeding session and the walk around the grounds, and the sanctuary encourages guests to move at their own pace rather than follow a fixed schedule.
