Failaka Island — a short ferry ride from the capital — is one of Kuwait's most fascinating and historically significant destinations, home to ancient Bronze Age settlements, a Greek temple from the era of Alexander the Great, and the hauntingly beautiful ruins of the old Kuwaiti village of Al-Zaour. The island has in recent years been transformed into an exciting leisure and heritage destination. The Ahmadi oil town — the historic heart of Kuwait's oil industry — and the vast Empty Quarter desert regions beyond the capital offer further dimensions to a destination that rewards the curious traveller. What is a Kuwait eVisa?

The Kuwait eVisa is a fully digital travel authorisation issued by the Ministry of Interior of the State of Kuwait — operated through the official Kuwait eVisa portal — kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw. It is applied for entirely online and delivered electronically to the applicant's registered email address upon approval. The approved eVisa must be downloaded, printed, and presented at Kuwaiti immigration upon arrival alongside the valid travel passport. No embassy visit and no in-person appointment is required for eVisa applicants.

Important Warning — Official Portal Only: The official Kuwait eVisa portal is kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw — operated exclusively by the Kuwait Ministry of Interior. Rayna Tours submits all Kuwait eVisa applications exclusively through this official government portal. Applicants are strongly advised against using any third-party website claiming to offer Kuwait eVisa services.

Three Entry Routes — Kuwait

Route 1 — Visa Exemption (No Visa Required)

GCC nationals — UAE · Saudi Arabia · Bahrain · Oman · Qatar — are fully visa-exempt and may enter Kuwait without any visa for an indefinite stay using their valid national ID card or passport. No application, no eVisa, and no fee required.

UAE Nationals — Visa Free: UAE nationals may enter Kuwait without any visa — no application required. Entry on valid UAE passport or UAE National ID card.

KSA Nationals — Visa Free: Saudi Arabian nationals may enter Kuwait without any visa — no application required. Entry on valid Saudi passport or Saudi National ID card.

Route 2 — eVisa or Visa on Arrival

For nationals of 53 eligible countries: Citizens of 53 countries — including all EU member states, UK, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and others — may obtain a Kuwait tourist eVisa online through the official portal — kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw — or obtain a Visa on Arrival at Kuwait International Airport.

• Valid for up to 3 months
• Fee: KWD 3 (~USD 10)
• Note: Visa on Arrival is only available at Kuwait International Airport — passengers arriving by sea or land must obtain a visa in advance

For GCC Residents — All Nationalities — Approved Professions: Foreign nationals residing in UAE · Saudi Arabia · Bahrain · Oman · Qatar who hold a valid GCC Residence Permit with at least 6 months remaining validity — and whose profession is on Kuwait's approved list — may apply for the Kuwait eVisa online through kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw or obtain a Visa on Arrival at Kuwait International Airport — effective 10 August 2025.

Eligible Professions for GCC Residents: Doctor · Lawyer · Engineer · Teacher · Judge or Prosecutor · Consultant · Professor · Journalist · Press and Media Professional · Pilot · System Analyst or Computer Programmer · Pharmacist · Manager · Businessperson · Shareholder · Director · Officer · Member of the Diplomatic Corps

UAE Residents: Eligibility is determined based on the profession listed on the Emirates ID.

Route 3 — Embassy or Consulate Visa

Nationalities not eligible for the eVisa or Visa on Arrival — or GCC residents whose profession is not on the approved list — must apply for a visa through the nearest Kuwaiti Embassy or Consulate in their country of residence through a licensed sponsor. Rayna Tours will advise on the applicable route based on the specific passport nationality at the time of enquiry.

Do You Need a Kuwait Visa? — UAE, India & KSA

UAE Nationals — Visa Free: UAE nationals may enter Kuwait without any visa — enter on valid UAE passport or UAE National ID card.

UAE Residents of Other Nationalities: Determined by profession listed on Emirates ID. If the profession is on Kuwait's approved list and UAE Residence Permit has at least 6 months remaining validity — eligible for Kuwait eVisa or Visa on Arrival. If profession is not on the approved list — must apply through the Kuwaiti Embassy.

KSA Nationals — Visa Free: Saudi Arabian nationals may enter Kuwait without any visa — enter on valid Saudi passport or Saudi National ID card.

KSA Residents of Other Nationalities: If the profession is on Kuwait's approved list and the Iqama has at least 6 months remaining validity — eligible for Kuwait eVisa or Visa on Arrival. If not — must apply through the Kuwaiti Embassy.

Indian Nationals: India is not on Kuwait's 53-country eVisa eligible list. Indian nationals have two options:

• UAE or GCC Residents — Approved Profession: Eligible for Kuwait eVisa or Visa on Arrival — based on the profession on Emirates ID or Iqama.
• Applying from India — non-approved profession: Must apply through the Kuwaiti Embassy or Consulate in India through a licensed sponsor.

Entry Summary — Rayna's Three Markets

Permitted Activities

• Tourism, sightseeing, leisure travel, and recreational activities
• Visiting family or friends
• Business meetings, conferences, and trade activities
• Short-term business stays

Not Permitted:

• Paid employment — a work visa and residency permit required
• Long-term stay — as per permitted visa duration
• Any activity inconsistent with the declared purpose of visit

Important Entry Requirements

• Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Kuwait.
• For GCC residents: Residence Permit must have at least 6 months remaining validity at the time of application.
• Profession on Emirates ID or Iqama must match Kuwait's approved profession list.
• For dependents of GCC residents: sponsor's residency document required — sponsor must be present upon arrival in Kuwait.
• Confirmed return or onward travel ticket — may be requested at the border.
• Proof of accommodation for the duration of stay.

Processing Time

• eVisa: Typically 3 to 5 working days from date of application.
• Visa on Arrival: Processed at Kuwait International Airport — available for eligible nationalities only.
