This full day tour takes you through Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai provinces to see some of Northern Thailand's most distinctive temples and historical landmarks, ending at the Golden Triangle, where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet. The tour runs for a full day, with lunch, water, transfers and an English speaking guide included throughout.

Hotel pickup

Your day starts with a hotel pickup in Chiang Mai, and you travel north by air conditioned vehicle into Chiang Rai province, where your guide introduces each stop and shares background on the region along the way.

Chiang Rai's temples

The tour brings together three very different sites in Chiang Rai: the White Temple, the Blue Temple and the Black House Museum, each with its own distinct style of Thai religious and cultural artistry. Seeing them back to back over the course of the day highlights how differently modern Thai artists have interpreted temple design and cultural storytelling.

Chiang Saen Ancient City

From the modern temples, the tour steps back in time at Chiang Saen Ancient City, a 14th century Lanna era settlement. Walking among its ruins gives a sense of what the region looked like long before the temples built in the last few decades, and ties the day's sightseeing together with a look at Northern Thailand's older history.

The Golden Triangle

The day's final stop is the Golden Triangle, the point where the Mekong river marks the meeting of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar. Standing at the viewpoint and looking out across three countries at once, with the river below, is a moment most visitors on this tour remember well after the day ends.

Your guide travels with you throughout the day to explain the history and significance of each stop, and Rayna Tours' local team remains reachable before and after your tour for any help with your booking.
