About Ireland
Ireland ā the Emerald Isle ā is one of the world's most beloved and deeply romanticised travel destinations ā a small island nation on the western edge of Europe whose extraordinary natural beauty Ā· rich literary and cultural heritage Ā· warm and endlessly welcoming people Ā· and thousand-year-old history have captured the hearts of travellers from every corner of the world. From the wild Atlantic coastline of the west to the rolling green farmland of the midlands Ā· from the ancient passage tombs of the Boyne Valley to the vibrant cafĆ© culture of Dublin's Georgian squares ā Ireland is a country of genuine and lasting magic.
Dublin ā Ireland's elegant and effervescent capital ā enchants with its extraordinary literary heritage Ā· the magnificent Trinity College and its priceless Book of Kells Ā· the lively and colourful Temple Bar district Ā· St Patrick's Cathedral Ā· Dublin Castle Ā· and a pub culture that has no equal anywhere in the world. The city's extraordinary museums Ā· galleries Ā· and live music scene make it one of Europe's most genuinely vibrant and culturally rich capital cities. The Cliffs of Moher ā rising 214 metres above the crashing Atlantic Ocean along the rugged Clare coastline ā are one of the most breathtaking and photographed natural wonders in all of Europe Ā· a spectacle of sheer drama and elemental power that never fails to overwhelm the visitor.
The Ring of Kerry ā a 179-kilometre scenic drive through the mountains and coastline of County Kerry ā is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful driving routes in the world Ā· passing through ancient villages Ā· dramatic coastal headlands Ā· prehistoric stone forts Ā· and some of Ireland's most iconic mountain scenery. The Wild Atlantic Way ā the world's longest defined coastal route stretching over 2,500 kilometres from Donegal in the north to Cork in the south ā offers an unparalleled journey through the raw Ā· windswept Ā· and utterly spectacular western seaboard of the island. The medieval city of Galway ā with its colourful shopfronts Ā· traditional music sessions spilling out of every pub Ā· and the extraordinary beauty of Connemara and the Aran Islands beyond ā is widely regarded as one of the most charming and characterful cities in Europe.
The Giant's Causeway in County Antrim ā a UNESCO World Heritage Site of extraordinary geological wonder Ā· its 40,000 interlocking basalt columns formed by ancient volcanic activity ā the monastic settlement of Glendalough nestled in the Wicklow Mountains Ā· the Rock of Cashel rising dramatically from the Tipperary plains Ā· and the medieval splendour of Kilkenny complete a travel experience of extraordinary depth Ā· beauty Ā· and historical richness. Ireland's cuisine ā from the celebrated seafood of Galway Bay and the artisan food producers of West Cork to the world-class restaurants of Dublin's Merrion Square ā has undergone a remarkable renaissance that has placed Irish food firmly on the world culinary map. Ireland is a destination of extraordinary warmth Ā· beauty Ā· and depth ā a country whose welcome is as genuine and heartfelt as any in the world.
What is an Ireland Short Stay Visa?
An Ireland Short Stay 'C' Visa is an official travel authorisation issued by the Immigration Service Delivery (ISD) of Ireland ā permitting the holder to enter and remain in Ireland for up to 90 days for tourism Ā· family visits Ā· business Ā· or other short-stay purposes. The Ireland Short Stay Visa is applied for entirely online through the official Irish visa online portal ā visas.inis.gov.ie ā and processed by the Irish Embassy or Consulate in the applicant's country of residence.
Important ā Ireland is NOT a Schengen Member: Ireland is a member of the European Union but has opted out of the Schengen Area ā it maintains its own independent immigration controls and issues its own separate visa. A Schengen Visa does NOT grant entry into Ireland and an Ireland visa does NOT grant entry into the Schengen Area. Travellers visiting both Ireland and mainland Europe require separate visas for each jurisdiction.
Ireland Short Stay Visa Waiver Programme: Ireland operates a Short Stay Visa Waiver Programme ā under which certain visa-required nationals who hold a valid UK short-stay visa issued before 1 February 2024 may enter Ireland without an Irish visa. In the case of nationals from Saudi Arabia Ā· Bahrain Ā· Kuwait Ā· Oman Ā· Qatar Ā· and Peru ā the United Kingdom Electronic Travel Authorisation cannot be used to travel to Ireland. Only those who enter the UK with an existing valid short-stay UK visa issued before the introduction of the ETA on 1 February 2024 Ā· including a multi-entry UK visa Ā· are able to avail of the Short Stay Visa Waiver Scheme to travel to Ireland. Rayna Tours will advise on Visa Waiver Programme eligibility at the time of enquiry.
