Step 6 — Visa Decision & Passport Return

Once a decision is made, you will be notified by IRCC. If approved, the visa sticker will be affixed to your passport, which is then returned to you.

Important Notice

Visa approval, validity, permitted stay, and appointment availability are determined solely by IRCC and the respective Visa Application Centre. Rayna Tours acts as a professional visa assistance provider only and does not guarantee visa approval.

Canada — Visa Overview

About Canada

Canada is a vast and breathtaking nation, offering travellers an exceptional blend of cosmopolitan city life and untouched natural wonder. From the thundering beauty of Niagara Falls and the majestic peaks of Banff National Park to the vibrant energy of Toronto and the scenic coastal charm of Vancouver, Canada presents a travel experience defined by diversity and grandeur. Whether exploring world-class cities, immersing yourself in stunning national parks, or visiting family and friends, Canada is a destination that consistently captures the hearts of travellers from around the world.

What is a Canada Visitor Visa?

A Canada Visitor Visa — officially known as a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) — is a physical visa sticker placed directly into the applicant's passport by the issuing Canadian visa office. It serves as official confirmation that the holder meets the requirements to travel to and enter Canada as a visitor. It is mandatory for nationals of the UAE, India, and KSA, and must be obtained before departure — entry into Canada cannot be sought without a valid visa already affixed to the passport.

Permitted Activities

A Canada Visitor Visa permits entry for tourism, visiting family or friends, attending business meetings or events, and short-term studies or work of less than 6 months that do not require a separate study or work permit. The visa does not authorise the holder to work or study in Canada beyond these specific exceptions.

Visa Validity & Number of Entries

The validity of a Canada Visitor Visa is determined solely by the issuing Canadian visa office, based on the applicant's profile, travel history, and overall eligibility — it is not fixed and remains entirely at the discretion of the embassy or visa office. A visa officer also has full discretion to issue either a single-entry or multiple-entry visa.

As a usual and ideal practice, once a visa is approved, the validity granted is directly governed by the remaining validity left on the applicant's passport at the time of approval. The visa cannot be issued for a duration longer than the passport's remaining validity — meaning an applicant with 8 years remaining on their passport can generally expect a visa validity of up to 8 years, while an applicant with only 3 years remaining can expect a validity of up to 3 years. The maximum validity that can be granted under any circumstance is 10 years, and is additionally capped by the validity of the applicant's biometrics, which are valid for 10 years from the date of submission. Whichever of the three — passport validity, biometric validity, or the 10-year maximum — expires first will determine the final validity granted.

It is therefore strongly recommended that applicants renew their passport well before expiry if a longer visa validity is desired, as a passport nearing expiry will directly limit the validity of the visa issued.

Permitted Length of Stay

The visa validity is separate and distinct from the permitted length of stay per visit. Most visitors can stay in Canada for up to 6 months per visit. At the port of entry, the border services officer has the discretion to permit a shorter or longer stay, which will be indicated either by a stamp in the passport or through a separate visitor record document. If no stamp is given, the default permitted stay is 6 months from the date of entry, or until the passport or biometrics expire — whichever comes first.

Biometrics

Most applicants between the ages of 14 and 79 are required to provide their fingerprints and a photograph as part of the application process. Biometrics are valid for 10 years, meaning frequent travellers to Canada are generally only required to provide biometrics once within that period. The biometric fee must be paid at the time of application submission to avoid processing delays.

Application Process

  1. Confirm eligibility for the Canada Visitor Visa.
  2. Complete the application online and submit all required supporting documents as per the personalised document checklist provided.
  3. Pay the applicable processing fee and biometric fee.
  4. Attend a biometric collection appointment at an authorised Visa Application Centre.
  5. Await the visa decision. If approved, the visa sticker will be affixed to the passport before it is returned to the applicant.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must hold a valid passport with sufficient remaining validity, be in good health, have no criminal or immigration-related convictions, and be able to demonstrate ties — such as employment, property, financial assets, or family — that support their intention to return to their home country. Applicants must also demonstrate sufficient financial means to support themselves throughout their stay and cover the cost of their return journey.

General Disclaimer

All visa decisions — including approval, refusal, validity, number of entries, and permitted duration of stay — rest solely with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officer at the port of entry. Rayna Tours acts as a professional visa assistance provider only. Submission of a complete application does not guarantee visa approval or entry into Canada.

The passport must be submitted to the Visa Application Centre as part of the process and will be returned to the applicant once the visa decision has been finalized and, if approved, the sticker has been affixed.
  • The validity of the visa granted is determined by the embassy and, as a usual practice, is directly linked to the remaining validity on the applicant's passport at the time of approval. Applicants are strongly advised to renew their passport in advance if seeking a longer visa validity, as a passport nearing expiry will limit the validity of any visa granted.
  • All fees associated with the visa application — including biometric fees, IRCC government processing fees, and Rayna Tours service fees — are strictly non-refundable once the application has been submitted, regardless of the outcome.
  • Applicants must attend their biometric appointment on the confirmed date and time. A missed appointment may require a fresh booking, subject to availability and additional fees.
  • Confirmation of a biometric appointment does not guarantee visa approval or entry into Canada. All decisions rest solely with the issuing Canadian visa office and the Canada Border Services Agency officer at the port of entry.
  • Rayna Tours bears no responsibility for delays, rescheduling, or decisions made by IRCC or VFS Global at any stage of the process.
