The Langkawi Island Hopping Tour takes you by speedboat around the Langkawi archipelago, stopping at three islands, Pulau Dayang Bunting, Singa Besar Island and Beras Basah Island, for a mix of wildlife, swimming and beach time over about five hours.
Your driver-guide collects you from your hotel and transfers you to the jetty, where you board the speedboat for the ride out to the islands, with the coastline and smaller islets of the archipelago passing by along the way.
The boat sails past Singa Besar Island, one of the three islands on this route, on the way to Pulau Dayang Bunting, also called Pregnant Maiden Island, named for the shape of the hills that surround it. A short jungle walk from the jetty leads to a freshwater lake enclosed on all sides by these hills, calm and clear, where you can swim before returning to the boat for the next stop.
Near Beras Basah Island, watch for sea eagles diving into the water to catch fish, a common sight on this stretch of the tour and a good opportunity for photos as the birds swoop low over the surface. The boat then continues to Beras Basah Island itself, known as Wet Rice Island for its pale sand, where you have close to an hour to swim in the shallow water, walk the wooden pier out over the sea, or simply relax on the beach before the return leg.
