Qatar ā Visa Overview
About Qatar
Qatar is one of the most remarkable and rapidly transformed nations on earth ā a small but extraordinarily ambitious peninsular state on the Arabian Gulf that has, in the space of just a few decades, emerged as one of the world's most dynamic, wealthy, and culturally vibrant destinations. Jutting north from the Arabian Peninsula into the warm waters of the Persian Gulf, Qatar is a country where ancient Bedouin traditions and pearl-diving heritage coexist with one of the most futuristic and architecturally daring cityscapes on the planet ā a destination that consistently surprises and captivates every traveller who discovers it.
Doha ā Qatar's extraordinary capital ā stuns visitors with a skyline of breathtaking architectural ambition. The West Bay district ā a forest of gleaming glass towers rising from the edge of the Arabian Gulf ā is home to the landmark Tornado Tower, the iconic Museum of Islamic Art ā widely considered one of the finest collections of Islamic art and artefacts in the world ā and the extraordinary National Museum of Qatar, designed by Jean Nouvel in the shape of a desert rose. The Corniche ā Doha's sweeping waterfront promenade stretching over seven kilometres along the Gulf ā offers spectacular views of the city skyline across the shimmering water, particularly at sunset and after dark when the towers are illuminated in gold.
Souq Waqif ā the beautifully restored historic market at the heart of old Doha ā is one of the most authentic and atmospheric traditional souqs in the entire Gulf, its narrow lanes filled with the scent of Arabic perfumes and incense, the colour of traditional Qatari handicrafts, falconry equipment, spices, and some of the finest Middle Eastern food in the region. The Pearl-Qatar ā an artificial island of luxury residences, fine dining, and high-end boutiques ā and the Katara Cultural Village ā a celebration of arts, culture, and heritage ā add further dimensions to a city of remarkable depth and sophistication. The Al Zubarah Fort ā a UNESCO World Heritage Site ā the inland sea of Khor al Adaid ā a stunning body of water surrounded by towering sand dunes accessible only by 4WD ā and the vast, hauntingly beautiful desert interior offer a quieter, more elemental Qatar far beyond the city.
Qatar's extraordinary sporting legacy ā having hosted the FIFA World Cup 2022 in what was a globally transformative moment for the entire Middle East and the Arab world ā has left a legacy of world-class stadiums, infrastructure, and a new global profile that has brought millions of visitors to discover this remarkable Gulf destination for the first time. Qatar's cuisine ā from the fragrant machboos and harees of traditional Qatari cooking to the extraordinary international dining scene of Doha's five-star restaurants ā reflects a society that celebrates both its own heritage and the world's diversity with equal warmth and generosity. Qatar is a destination of genuine ambition, warmth, and wonder ā a country that invites the world to arrive and be transformed.
What is a Qatar Hayya eVisa?
Qatar operates a fully digital visa system through the official Hayya platform ā hayya.qa ā the comprehensive digital entry authorisation service managed by the Ministry of Interior of the State of Qatar. The approved eVisa is linked electronically to the applicant's passport ā no physical document is issued. Qatar is currently the most open country in the Middle East for international visitors ā with visa-free entry available to nationals of over 102 countries and easy eVisa access for all remaining nationalities through the Hayya platform.
