What is a Qatar Hayya eVisa?

Qatar operates a fully digital visa system through the official Hayya platform — hayya.qa — the comprehensive digital entry authorisation service managed by the Ministry of Interior of the State of Qatar. All Qatar eVisa applications are submitted entirely online through the Hayya platform — with no embassy visit and no physical sticker visa required. The approved eVisa is linked electronically to the applicant's passport — no physical document is issued. Qatar is currently the most open country in the Middle East for international visitors — with visa-free entry available to nationals of over 102 countries and easy eVisa access for all remaining nationalities through the Hayya platform.

Qatar Visa Categories — Hayya Platform

Qatar issues the following tourist and visitor visa categories through the official Hayya platform — hayya.qa:

• A1 Tourist Visa — for all nationalities not eligible for visa-free entry — applied online through hayya.qa — confirmed hotel booking required during the application process
• A2 GCC Resident Visa — for all foreign nationals residing in the GCC — regardless of passport nationality and profession — applied online through hayya.qa
• A3 Entry Visa — for specific nationality categories — applied online through hayya.qa

Three Entry Routes — Qatar

Route 1 — Visa Free (No Application Required)

Nationals of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries — Bahrain · Kuwait · Oman · Saudi Arabia · and United Arab Emirates — do not require a visa to enter Qatar and may enter freely as GCC citizens. Additionally, nationals of over 102 countries are eligible for visa-free entry at Qatar's ports of entry — what was previously referred to as Visa on Arrival is now officially termed Visa-Free Entry — the name has changed but the process remains exactly the same.

UAE Nationals — Visa Free: UAE nationals enter Qatar without any visa — no application required — enter on valid UAE passport or UAE National ID card.

KSA Nationals — Visa Free: Saudi Arabian nationals enter Qatar without any visa — no application required — enter on valid Saudi passport or Saudi National ID card.

Route 2 — Hayya eVisa (Online Application — hayya.qa)

For nationalities requiring a visa — Qatar offers a fully digital and straightforward eVisa application through the official Hayya platform — hayya.qa.

A2 Visa — GCC Residents of All Nationalities: Foreign nationals residing in UAE · Saudi Arabia · Kuwait · Bahrain · or Oman — holding a valid GCC Residence Permit — may apply for the A2 GCC Resident Visa through the Hayya platform — regardless of passport nationality and regardless of profession. This makes Qatar one of the most accessible Gulf destinations for all UAE and KSA residents.

A1 Visa — Tourist Visa — All Other Nationalities: Nationals of countries not eligible for visa-free entry may apply for the A1 Tourist Visa through the Hayya platform. A confirmed hotel booking is required during the application process.

Route 3 — Visa on Arrival at Hamad International Airport

Many nationalities may also obtain entry authorisation on arrival at Hamad International Airport in Doha — without any prior application. Rayna Tours strongly recommends applying for the eVisa online through the Hayya platform before travel for certainty and peace of mind.

Important — Discover Qatar Hotel Requirement: Certain nationalities — including Indian nationals · Pakistani nationals · Philippine nationals · Sri Lankan nationals · and others as listed on the official Hayya platform — are required to hold a booking at a Discover Qatar approved hotel before obtaining entry authorisation on arrival. These applicants may alternatively apply for the Hayya eVisa in advance through hayya.qa before travel.

Qatar-Oman Joint Tourist Visa: The Qatar-Oman Joint Tourist Visa is issued upon arrival and is valid for 30 days for both the State of Qatar and the Sultanate of Oman — allowing multiple entries to both countries — extendable for an additional 30 days. Available to nationals of selected countries including Australia · Canada · France · Germany · Japan · UK · USA · and others — confirmed from the official visitqatar.com portal.

Do You Need a Qatar Visa? — UAE, India & KSA

UAE Nationals — Visa Free: UAE nationals enter Qatar without any visa — no application required — as GCC citizens.

UAE Residents of Other Nationalities: All UAE residents of any nationality and any profession — holding a valid UAE Residence Permit — are eligible for the A2 GCC Resident Visa through the Hayya platform — hayya.qa — regardless of passport nationality. No profession restriction applies — unlike other GCC destinations.

KSA Nationals — Visa Free: Saudi Arabian nationals enter Qatar without any visa — no application required — as GCC citizens.

KSA Residents of Other Nationalities: All KSA residents of any nationality — holding a valid Saudi Iqama — are eligible for the A2 GCC Resident Visa through the Hayya platform — regardless of passport nationality and profession.

Indian Nationals: Indian nationals have two options:

• Residing in UAE or KSA: Eligible for the A2 GCC Resident Visa through the Hayya platform — a confirmed booking at a Discover Qatar approved hotel is required.
• Applying from India: A1 Tourist Visa through the Hayya platform or entry authorisation on arrival at Hamad International Airport — a confirmed Discover Qatar approved hotel booking is mandatory.

Important Entry Requirements

• Passport must be valid for at least 3 months from the date of arrival in Qatar.
• For GCC residents: valid UAE Residence Visa or Saudi Iqama required — must be valid at the time of application.
• Confirmed hotel booking — mandatory for A1 Tourist Visa applicants and for Discover Qatar hotel requirement nationalities seeking entry authorisation on arrival.
• Return or onward travel ticket — may be requested at Qatar immigration.

Processing Time

• Entry authorisation on arrival: processed at Hamad International Airport.
• Apply at least 3 to 5 days before intended travel date for certainty.
