The Sanctuary of Truth is a monumental wooden temple and palace on the Pattaya oceanfront, about four kilometers from the city center. Carved entirely from teak without a single metal nail, it is widely recognized as the world's largest wooden castle, and construction has continued since 1981, with more than 250 craftsmen still adding detail today.

Conceived by Thai businessman Lek Viryaphant, the sanctuary was built to bring Asia's religions and philosophies together under a single roof, and is known locally as Wang Boran or Prasat Mai. Spread across more than 30 acres and rising 105 meters, it carries four spires that draw on the artistic traditions of Thailand, China, Cambodia and India, with carvings of deities, mythical beings and sacred scenes at every turn. Walk through the halls and you reach the central chamber, where an image of the Buddha sits among the most striking of the carvings. Every visit turns up detail you missed before, since craftsmen are still at work throughout the grounds.

Depending on when you visit, you may also catch a traditional Thai dance performance against the oceanfront backdrop. Rayna's local team handles your booking and ticket, and is on hand if you need help before or during your visit.
