Pattaya Elephant Sanctuary

The Pattaya Elephant Sanctuary visit puts you face to face with rescued elephants living out their days in a protected, ethically run setting. The visit runs as a guided day or half-day program, with roundtrip transportation and an English or Thai-speaking guide included throughout.

Your guide meets you for hotel pickup and travels with you to the sanctuary, where the rescued elephants live together in open, natural surroundings rather than being confined for performances or rides. Insurance is included for the day, and your guide stays with you from arrival to departure.

Once inside, you get close to the elephants through hands-on moments that the sanctuary builds its day around. Feeding sessions let you hand over fruit and vegetables while the elephants gather nearby, and you can watch them take a mud bath, a favorite ritual that keeps their skin healthy and cool in the Thai heat. A guided walk along the forest trails follows, giving you time to see the elephants moving and interacting with each other at their own pace rather than on a fixed schedule, with your guide on hand throughout to explain their individual backgrounds and rescue stories.

Snacks, tea, coffee and drinking water are provided through the day, and a lunch or dinner is included depending on the program you book, so you are looked after between activities. Throughout the visit, there is plenty of time to take photos of the elephants up close, whether they are socializing with each other, feeding, or cooling off in the mud, and your guide can help point out good vantage points for photos.

The sanctuary's ethical approach means the elephants set the pace of the visit, not the other way round. Rayna's own guide manages the day from pickup to drop-off, so support is on hand throughout.
