The Jeddah Desert Safari runs for about 3 hours, from 3 pm to 6 pm, taking you from the city into the Bahra desert area for a guided hiking and mountain climbing session and time at a traditional desert camp, away from Jeddah's usual sights.

Hotel transfer is available as an optional add-on with pickup from Al Salaam Mall in Jeddah; without it, you will need to make your own way to the meeting point. Either way, an experienced guide leads the group once you arrive and stays with you for the full 3 hours.

The drive out shifts the setting from Jeddah's city center to the quieter, open landscape of the Bahra area, where the desert stretches out around the camp. Rather than a packed sightseeing itinerary, the safari gives you a few hours away from traffic and crowds, with the terrain itself, sand, low rises and open sky, doing most of the work. Starting at 3 pm keeps the walk out of the hottest part of the day, with the light softening by the time the safari wraps up around 6 pm. It also makes this a shorter outing than the longer evening safaris run elsewhere in the same area, so it fits into an afternoon rather than taking up your whole evening.

Once at the camp, your guide leads a hiking and mountain climbing session across the surrounding dunes, a way to see the terrain up close rather than only from the camp. The walk moves at a group pace over sand and low rises rather than technical rock, so it stays within reach of most travellers who are reasonably comfortable walking outdoors. Between the walk and the time at camp, you get a sense of the desert camp setup itself, simple rather than elaborate, geared toward giving visitors a look at the region's desert surroundings rather than a full-scale entertainment program.

Rayna Tours' own guide runs the safari from arrival to departure, and the team stays reachable if you have questions about the Al Salaam Mall pickup option before your visit or need to adjust your booking afterward.

Great desert safari experience - highly recommend Sunil as the driver

5/5

The desert safari was amazing, mostly because of our excellent driver, Sunil. His driving in the sand dunes during the dune bashing was very exciting and felt like a roller coaster, but also always ensured our safety and made sure we wore our seatbelts! He took great pictures of all of us in the desert and with the camels at the camel farm. He was very friendly and courteous the whole time. The campsite was lovely, we rode the camels, had a great meal, and enjoyed the dance show. Overall it was a wonderful experience! I recommend booking this experience directly with Rayna Tours, and not through a third party e.g. Nirvana.

Very enjoyable trip to desert with Sunil Kumar as our driver. Dune bashing was great and enjoyed the meal too. Had a go at the sand boarding too. Camel ride was very short, just for photos really. Sunil was good fun and was happy to take lots of photos of us

Dune Desert Safari ! Even Alone ... But You Are Not Lonely

5/5

The price is reasonable, I chose for shared-premium package, which my table was just beside the stage. The salesperson, coordinator and the driver are very well prepared. The dune driving was very amazing and incredible. I also experienced riding on a camel. Before the buffet dinner, we went to see the sunset. The buffet dinner is wonderful. You will never be disappointed for choosing Rayna Tours.

We’ll let you know the moment this experience becomes available again.
