Louvre Abu Dhabi sits on Saadiyat Island's Cultural District, the only Louvre outside Paris and the first universal museum in the Arab world. Designed by architect Jean Nouvel, it opened in 2017 as a joint project between the governments of Abu Dhabi and France, with loans from institutions including the Musee du Louvre and Musee d'Orsay.

Inside, more than 600 works are arranged chronologically across 12 galleries, taking you from prehistory and early civilizations through the birth of Islam, the classical age and into contemporary art. The collection includes pieces from Centre Pompidou alongside the permanent holdings, with exhibits dating back to the 3rd century BC. The museum's centerpiece is its dome: a geometric lattice of more than 7,000 star-shaped patterns across eight layers of steel and aluminium, weighing around 7,500 tonnes and spanning 180 metres. Sunlight filters through the perforations to create a shifting pattern of light and shade across the plaza below, an effect inspired by traditional palm-frond weaving.

Families can add the Children's Museum, spread across three themed levels for younger visitors. Rayna's Dubai team arranges your entry ticket and, where selected, a roundtrip transfer from Dubai, and is on hand for support before or after your visit.

You can conveniently plan your visit with Qasr Al Watan Abu Dhabi from Dubai tickets booking or explore the emirate’s rich past through Qasr Al Hosn From Dubai tickets. Both experiences offer an enriching glimpse into Abu Dhabi’s heritage and architectural splendor.

The best thing about visiting the Louvre Abu Dhabi was the opportunity to see the beautiful architectural design of the museum, which is created by the famous French architect, Jean Nouvel and the exhibits from many different eras preserved.

Brillaint collections

Rayna Tours' Louvre Abu Dhabi tour was interesting. The kind of artworks that I saw here was hard to find at any one single museum. The self-portrait of Van Gogh and Leonardo da Vinci’s La Belle Ferronnière painting are extraordinary.
