Hatta Mountain Safari

Hatta Mountain Safari is a full day 4x4 excursion from Dubai into the Hajar Mountains, centered on the town of Hatta. The tour combines off-road driving with stops at a restored heritage village, a mountain dam, a hillside park and two local markets.

You are picked up from your Dubai hotel or residence and driven out of the city in a 4x4 vehicle, following mountain trails that climb into increasingly rugged terrain as Dubai gives way to the Hajar range.

Hatta Heritage Village

The first stop is Hatta Heritage Village, built around a fort and a mosque that both date back more than 200 years. Restored mud houses and smaller buildings around the site reflect Emirati architecture and daily life from the 16th century, giving a sense of how mountain communities lived before Hatta became a stop on the tourist trail.

Hatta Dam and Hatta Hill Park

From the village, the tour continues to Hatta Dam, where water collected from natural mountain springs is used for irrigation and to generate electricity. Nearby, Hatta Hill Park offers mountain walkways and green picnic spots, a good place to stretch your legs and take in the surrounding peaks before moving on.

The final stop is Hatta's pottery and carpet market, at its busiest on Fridays and Saturdays when most stalls are open; on other days only a handful trade. Guests who book an option with lunch can eat a buffet at Hatta Fort Hotel or take a picnic lunch, depending on which option they chose.
