The Kintamani day tour is a guided sightseeing trip through central Bali's highlands and Ubud, run in an air-conditioned car with an English-speaking driver from about 8 am to 6:30 pm, taking in volcano views, rice terraces, a waterfall, and Ubud's cultural sites in one day.

Your driver collects you from your hotel in the morning for the drive up into the highlands. The route climbs gradually out of the lowlands into cooler air, passing rice fields and small villages along the way, with photo stops as the landscape opens up. Along the stretch to Kintamani, you pass through small farming villages and see daily rural life up close, well away from Bali's busier tourist areas.

Highlands and viewpoints

The first major stop is Tegenungan Falls, a 15-meter waterfall near Ubud where the mist off the water cuts through the tropical heat. From there, the route continues to the Tegallalang Rice Terraces, stepped paddies farmed under the Subak system, Bali's traditional cooperative irrigation network that is recognized by UNESCO. The terraces are one of the most photographed spots in the Ubud area, with paths winding between the paddies for a closer look at how the water channels work. The tour then continues to the Mount Batur viewpoint, with views over the volcano and its crater lake.

Ubud's cultural sites

In Ubud, the tour stops at Ubud Palace, where you can walk through courtyards that show Bali's traditional royal architecture. Next door, Ubud Art Market has stalls selling handmade textiles, wood carvings, and other local crafts, and it is one of the easiest places on the tour to pick up a souvenir to take home, with time built into the schedule to browse before the drive back.

Rayna's local team plans the route and provides the driver for the day, so you get one contact for the whole trip if plans need to change.
