Depending on the route you choose, your day can include Tibumana, Tukad Cepung, Tegenungan, and Blangsinga waterfalls, each with its own character. Tukad Cepung sits inside a narrow canyon, reached on foot through a shallow stream, where sunlight beams through an opening in the rock and lights up the falling water, often best seen in the mid-morning. Tegenungan is a larger, easily reached waterfall near Ubud where you can swim in the pool below. Rather than rushing through every stop, you can pick two or three waterfalls and spend real time at each.

Expect rock formations, forest paths, and pools you can wade into at some of the stops, so comfortable shoes and clothes you do not mind getting a little wet or muddy are worth packing. Away from the main roads, the air feels noticeably cooler under the tree cover, and the sound of the water often carries before you catch your first glimpse of the fall itself.
