Elephant Wildlife Sanctuary

Elephant Wildlife Sanctuary is an ethical elephant park on 12 hectares of jungle bordering Khao Phra Thaeo National Park in northern Phuket. Visitors spend a half or full day here, observing elephants, including several retired working elephants, as they move freely through the forest without rides or forced interactions.

A guide leads you along forest trails through the sanctuary, pointing out elephants as they graze, dust themselves and move between shaded areas of the jungle. You can hand-feed the elephants when they approach, and watch them take mud baths and spray themselves with water at their own pace. Along the way, your guide shares each elephant's rescue story and explains how the sanctuary cares for them day to day, along with the conservation work behind ongoing efforts to protect Thailand's elephants. A canopy walkway through the sanctuary's forest gives you a different vantage point, looking down over the trails and the elephants below.
