Phi Phi Island On Speed Boat

The Phi Phi Island tour by speedboat is a full day trip from Krabi to the Phi Phi archipelago, running from about 7:30 am to 6 pm. It covers Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon, Monkey Beach, and Viking Cave in a single day, with lunch included.

A roundtrip hotel transfer is available from centrally located hotels in the Aonang area, with other hotels arranged on request, taking you to the pier for the speedboat crossing and back again once the tour ends.

The crossing itself is part of the experience. Every transfer between stops is made by speedboat, so you cover more ground and spend extra time at each site rather than in transit. Along certain stretches of open water, dolphins occasionally swim alongside the boat, and flying fish can be seen leaping clear of the surface, adding an extra dose of excitement to the ride between islands.

Maya Bay, enclosed by tall limestone cliffs and known as the filming location for the 2000 film 'The Beach,' is a highlight of the day, though access is subject to seasonal restrictions. From there, the boat continues to Pileh Lagoon, a hidden pool of clear water ringed by cliffs, and Bamboo Island's white sand shoreline, before a stop at the coral reef of Loh Samah Bay for snorkeling.

The tour also takes in two more unusual stops: Viking Cave, home to centuries-old paintings and swallow nests high on its walls, and Monkey Beach, where a resident troop of monkeys gathers along the shore. Lunch is served at a restaurant on Phi Phi Don Island, with the buffet spread out to a sea view over the surrounding islands.
