The James Bond Island tour by long tail boat is a full day trip through Phang Nga Bay, running from about 8 am to 6 pm. It moves at an easier pace than a speedboat crossing, ideal for travellers who prefer to take in the scenery slowly.
A roundtrip hotel transfer is included, taking you from your hotel to the boat departure point in the morning and back again once the day's activities are finished, so you do not need to arrange your own transport to the pier.
Once on board, you move through Phang Nga Bay at an easy pace, passing bright blue water, white sand beaches, and dramatic limestone cliffs and karsts rising straight out of the sea. Along the way, the boat threads through sea caves that are only reachable by water and slips into hidden lagoons tucked between the islands, giving you a closer look at rock formations shaped over millions of years.
The tour then slows near Nail Island, a tall rock standing alone in the water, and the two connected limestone karsts used as James Bond Island's filming locations. You can take photos here and compare the view to scenes from the 1974 film 'The Man with the Golden Gun,' which first brought this stretch of coastline to wider attention.
From there, the boat continues to Koh Panyi, a fishing village built entirely on wooden stilts over the sea, with its own homes, shops, and a mosque. You walk through the village along its swaying boardwalks before sitting down to a seafood buffet lunch, with the water and surrounding karsts as your backdrop for the meal.
The boat returns you to the pier in the late afternoon for your transfer back to your hotel. Rayna's Krabi team manages the pickup, the boat day, and support throughout, so help is on hand if your plans change.
