Al Ain Zoo

Al Ain Zoo is a wildlife park at the foothills of Jebel Hafeet in Al Ain, home to more than 4,000 animals from over 200 species. Spread across 400 hectares, it combines walk-through habitats with the Al Ain Safari section and the Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre.

Walking through the zoo's habitats, you can see critically endangered species such as the Addax, Scimitar oryx, Saker falcon and Egyptian vulture, alongside some of the world's largest groups of Arabian sand cats and Dama gazelles. Familiar faces include the Rothschild's giraffe, the Western Lowland gorilla and the ring-tailed lemur. At the Al Ain Safari section, a truck or SUV ride takes you across open ground where African animals, including the Big 5, roam in a setting built to resemble their natural habitat, with add-on sessions such as lion feeding, penguin feeding and a parrot show depending on your ticket. The Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre rounds out the visit with five galleries on the region's past and present.
