This journey takes you from the bright lights of Tokyo to the ancient traditions of the countryside. You will explore Tokyo's famous sights, like the Skytree and Shibuya Crossing, before riding a high-speed bullet train to Kyoto. In Kyoto and Nara, you’ll see golden temples and friendly roaming deer. The tour continues to Hiroshima and Shikoku Island. A highlight is staying overnight in a Buddhist monastery where you can join the monks for meditation. and relax in traditional hot springs. The tour concludes in Tokyo, filled with unforgettable cultural memories.

Welcome to Japan. Upon arrival and after completion of customs, you will be transferred to your hotel via a shared shuttle service. The remainder of the day is yours to enjoy at your leisure. Details regarding the tour’s commencement will be shared with you this afternoon.

After a wonderful breakfast. Experience the vibrant energy of Tokyo on a comprehensive five-hour guided tour. You will start from Zojoji Temple, home to hundreds of Jizo statues and iconic views of the Tokyo Tower. From there, you visit the world-famous Shibuya Crossing and the serene Meiji Shrine. The tour continues by bus along Omotesando Avenue to the Imperial Palace and its beautiful gardens. After passing through the neon-lit streets of Akihabara, which is the centre of anime culture. Go up the Tokyo Skytree (tickets included up to the Tembo Deck) for incredible city views. Your afternoon ends in Asakusa at the Sensoji Temple. In the evening, join your guide for a subway trip to Shinjuku. Enjoy a guided walk through this lively area followed by a welcome dinner at a local restaurant.

Note: The schedule may change based on our Skytree entry time. If the weather is bad, we will visit a different viewpoint.

Day 3

TOKYO – KYOTO

TOKYO – KYOTO

You’ll leave early in the morning and take the famous bullet train to Kyoto. The trip is very fast, covering 500 km in just over two hours! Kyoto was the capital of Japan for a long time and is famous for its beautiful history and art. Here you will visit the city's top sights, including the red gates of Fushimi Inari Shrine, the Imperial Palace, and the stunning Golden Pavilion. Afterward, you’ll have time to walk through Gion, a famous neighbourhood where you might see a Geisha, they are traditional performing artists and entertainers trained in traditional Japanese culture. Day is set free to explore on your own.

Day 4

KYOTO - NARA – OSAKA

KYOTO - NARA – OSAKA

After completion of breakfast. Your morning begins in Nara at the magnificent Todaiji Temple, home to a colossal bronze Buddha. While there, enjoy the unique experience of meeting the friendly, free-roaming deer in the park. After an included lunch, you’ll explore Horyu-ji Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site and Japan’s oldest Buddhist temple, featuring an ancient wooden pagoda. You’ll spend the night in the energetic city of Osaka. In the evening, you’ll visit the iconic Dotonbori district, known for its neon signs and incredible street food atmosphere.

Day 5

OSAKA - HIMEJI - KORAKUEN GARDEN – OKAYAMA

OSAKA - HIMEJI - KORAKUEN GARDEN – OKAYAMA

You head to Himeji to visit its famous castle complex (entry included), a wonderful example of Japanese architecture. After an included lunch at a local restaurant, you travel to Okayama. There, visit Korakuen, one of Japan’s most beautiful gardens, famous for its lakes and teahouses. You can also walk across the bridge to see Okayama Castle from the outside. Afterward, enjoy some free time to explore the city.

Note: Depending on the dates, you may stay in Fukuyama or Kurashiki instead.

Day 6

OKAYAMA - KURASHIKI - ITSUKUSHIMA – HIROSHIMA

After a buffet breakfast, you begin the day in Kurashiki, a town famous for its beautiful, old-fashioned streets. You will have time to walk around and enjoy the historic atmosphere. Next, you travel to Hiroshima. Visit the Peace Memorial Park, the Atomic Bomb Dome, and the museum to learn about the city’s history and recovery. Afterward, you will take a ferry to Miyajima Island to see the famous Itsukushima Shrine, which is built over the water. You’ll have time for lunch and a stroll through the town. We return to Hiroshima for an included dinner.

Day 7

HIROSHIMA – MATSUYAMA

HIROSHIMA – MATSUYAMA

Today, we take a relaxing two-and-a-half-hour ferry to Shikoku Island. This trip is a great way to see Japan’s many islands. In the city of Matsuyama, we’ll take a cable car to explore the city’s impressive castle, followed by a visit to the sacred Ishiteji Temple. After an included lunch at a local restaurant, the afternoon features a visit to Dogo Onsen, one of Japan’s oldest and most famous traditional bathhouses.

Day 8

MATSUYAMA - KOTOHIRA - TAKAMATSU - NARUTO – KOBE

MATSUYAMA - KOTOHIRA - TAKAMATSU - NARUTO – KOBE

You travel to Kotohira to visit a famous Shinto shrine on Mount Zosu. To reach it, you will climb 785 steps! Shrine dedicated to the god of sailors. Next, you visit Ritsurin in Takamatsu, which is one of Japan’s most stunning gardens. Lunch is included at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, we stop at a massive bridge in Naruto. You can walk across a glass floor to see powerful sea whirlpools 45 meters below! We will then drive across beautiful bridges over the sea until we reach Kobe for the night.

Day 9

KOBE - OSAKA - MOUNT KOYA

KOBE - OSAKA - MOUNT KOYA

In Kobe, you will visit the Earthquake Memorial Museum to learn about the 1995 earthquake and how the city was rebuilt. Then, you travel to Mount Koya, a sacred mountain with over 120 temples. Visit the spiritual Okuno Mausoleum and the historic Kongobuji Temple. Special highlight: You will stay in a Buddhist monastery where you can join the monks for Zen meditation practice and enjoy a traditional vegetarian dinner.

- On certain dates, the visit to the Earthquake Museum may be replaced by a visit to the Sake Museum or a trip up Kobe Tower.
- Staying at the monastery is considered a highly valuable experience. The rooms are simple, without private bathrooms, and follow traditional Japanese style with tatami mats. Bathrooms are shared.
- We cannot guarantee the meditation practice during peak tourist dates. Since accommodation capacity in the temples on Mount Koya is limited, in some cases, we may accommodate groups in nearby hotels (with half board included).

After enjoying a traditional breakfast at the monastery, we depart at sunrise for Kyoto. You will have a full day of leisure to discover the city at your own pace. To help you plan your day, our guide will provide expert recommendations on the most stunning sights to visit.

You will travel to Tsumago, which is a lovely village, famous for its traditional wooden houses and is one of the prettiest in Japan. You will have free time to walk around; lunch is included at a local restaurant. Next, head to Matsumoto to visit its famous 16th-century "Crow Castle." You will have some free time to explore the city before we go to Nagano for the night.

NAGANO - MONKEY PARK - KUSATSU – IKAHO

Your morning starts at Zenko-ji Temple in Nagano, where we will witness a traditional Gomakuyo ceremony for good luck. You then travel into the heart of the Japanese Alps to Jigokudani Monkey Park to observe wild macaques relaxing in volcanic hot springs. The journey continues over high mountain passes to the famous spa town of Kusatsu. After exploring its lively center, head to Ikaho, a town known for its historic stone stairways. Tonight, you will experience a traditional ryokan stay (a Japanese inn that typically features tatami-matted rooms, relaxing Onsen communal baths, and an included Japanese dinner).

Our journey continues to Nikko, a town of incredible beauty and history. You’ll visit the Nikko-Toshogu Temple, home to the famous "Dragon’s Cry" room, and the serene Taiyuinbyo Mausoleum. A scenic highlight is your walk through the Kanmangafuchi Abyss, a riverbank lined with hundreds of stone Jizo statues. After some free time to explore the town, we will return to Tokyo, arriving at approximately 6:30 p.m.
