Half Day Tbilisi City Tour

The half-day Tbilisi city tour is a guided introduction to Georgia's capital, covering historic cathedrals, the Old Town, and a handful of modern landmarks with a private driver-guide over about three hours.

Your driver-guide collects you from your Tbilisi hotel and takes you first to the Holy Trinity Cathedral, known locally as Sameba, a modern cathedral completed in 2004 that is one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world and visible from much of the city thanks to its golden dome.

Old Town and its landmarks

From there you continue to Metekhi Church and the nearby statue of Vakhtang Gorgasali, the legendary founder of Tbilisi, before heading into the Old Town. Here you ride the Narikala cable car up to Narikala Fortress for views over the rooftops and the Kura River, walk through the Sulphur Bathhouse District with its brick domes and sulphur springs, and stop at Sioni Cathedral, one of the city's oldest churches, whose interior reflects centuries of Georgian religious art. Along the way, your driver-guide points out the mix of Byzantine, Oriental, and Georgian architectural styles that give the Old Town its layered character.

Modern Tbilisi

The tour also takes in the contemporary side of the city: you cross the Kura River on the glass and steel Bridge of Peace, a pedestrian bridge that curves between the Old Town and Rike Park, and visit the Rezo Gabriadze Marionette Theatre, known for its puppet productions in the Old Town.
