The Historic Tashkent City Tour is a half-day walking tour of Uzbekistan's capital, running from 10 am to 2 pm. Over about four hours, it covers six stops across the city center, from centuries-old Islamic architecture to Soviet-era metro stations, all on foot with an English-speaking guide leading the way.
The tour begins with hotel pickup and drop-off, so you meet your guide directly rather than making your own way to the starting point. The guide leads the group on foot between stops for the rest of the day, setting a pace that allows time to look around each site.
The route starts at the Hazrati Imam complex, a religious and educational center where the Barakhan Madrasah and Tillya Sheikh Mosque reflect centuries of Islamic architecture. Inside the Muyi Muborak Library Museum, part of the same complex, you can see a collection of historic Islamic manuscripts. From there, the tour continues to Chorsu Bazaar, recognizable by its large blue dome, where stalls sell spices, fresh produce, and traditional Uzbek food. The tour then descends into the Tashkent Metro, where several stations are decorated like small palaces, with marble walls, mosaic panels, and chandeliers in a style dating to the Soviet era.
Back above ground, the tour passes through Independence Square (Mustakillik Square), the city's main civic plaza and home to a number of national monuments, then along Broadway, a pedestrian street lined with cafes, craft stalls, and street art. The route finishes at Amir Temur Square, where a statue of the 14th-century ruler marks the historic center of Tashkent, a fitting last stop before the tour ends.
The tour covers six landmarks in around four hours, giving a compact introduction to Tashkent's history and architecture in a single morning. Rayna's local team handles the pickup and guide arrangements, and stays reachable before, during, and after your visit.
