Munich Beer and Beyond is an evening social tour that visits several of the city's classic beer halls, cellars and gardens, run by The Local Experience since 2011. It suits both dedicated beer enthusiasts and curious travellers who want an evening built around Bavarian drinking culture and company rather than sightseeing.

Meeting your guide and group

The evening starts with a meet up near Munich's main train station, where guests are introduced to a local guide and the rest of the group before setting out together. From there, the guide leads the group on foot between stops for the rest of the night, keeping the pace social rather than rushed.

Munich's beer culture, explained

As the group moves between venues, the guide shares stories and background on why Munich became so closely tied to beer, from its historic breweries to the traditions around beer halls and beer gardens. The walk itself takes in some of the city's livelier streets after dark, giving a different view of Munich than a daytime sightseeing tour would.

Tastings and traditions

The tour includes 1.5 litres of beer per person across the evening, served in some cases straight from wooden barrels, with skip the line access at each stop to avoid the usual queues. Guests visit up to three beer halls, cellars or gardens over the course of the night, with the option to buy extra rounds or Bavarian food at several of the stops.

A playful finish

Toward the end of the evening, the guide awards a Beer Champion Trophy to one participant, a light hearted touch rather than a serious drinking contest. The night usually finishes with time at a bar, giving the group a chance to keep talking before heading back to their hotels.

Rayna Tours' local team manages the booking, so support is available through your voucher if you have questions before the evening.
