This full-day round trip takes you from Kandy up into the cool hills around Nuwara Eliya, a town often called Little England for its colonial-era buildings and misty, temperate climate, with stops at a temple, a tea factory, and several viewpoints along the way. The tour departs at 7:30 am and covers Ambuluwawa, Ramboda, and Nuwara Eliya itself over the course of the day.
A roundtrip hotel transfer collects you from your Kandy hotel at the start of the day, with transportation by tuk tuk, van, or air-conditioned van depending on the option you select, and an English-speaking driver for the full route.
The day begins with the drive out of Kandy toward Nuwara Eliya, stopping at a temple along the way. A sarong is required for the temple visit. From here, the road climbs into the hills, with stops at scenic viewpoints and opportunities along the way to browse local craftsmanship, plus a stop at Ambuluwawa Tower, where a 360-degree view stretches over the surrounding hill country.
Ramboda Waterfall is one of the stops on the way up, a cascade visible from the roadside. Further along, a guided tour of a tea factory walks you through how Ceylon tea is picked and processed, with the chance to see the machinery in action and sample the tea before continuing the drive.
In Nuwara Eliya itself, cooler mountain air and misty hills set the tone for the rest of the day. You can walk through the lush greenery of Victoria Park's gardens or spend a quieter hour by the serene Gregory Lake, before the drive back to Kandy at the end of the day. Rayna Tours' own driver runs this day trip from pickup to drop-off, so you can reach the team directly if you have questions before or during the tour.
