The FITO Museum sits in a quiet alley in District 10 of Ho Chi Minh City, and it is Vietnam's first private museum given over entirely to traditional medicine. The building is part of the visit in its own right, several floors that blend Northern Vietnamese, Hue and Cham architectural styles, with carved wooden detail and antique furnishings throughout.
The collection runs to more than 3,000 artifacts, from Stone Age tools to intricately carved wooden art. You walk through galleries of medicinal tools, ancient remedies and herbal samples gathered from across Vietnam, and rooms tracing how the country's healing practices developed, from acupuncture to herbal medicine, with displays dedicated to the physicians Tue Tinh and Hai Thuong Lan Ong. A guide leads the visit and explains the stories behind the collection, with live demonstrations of traditional tools and a short documentary on the history of Vietnamese medicine. A complimentary Lotus and Reishi mushroom tea is listed with the ticket.
The listed operating hours are 8:30 to 17:00 and the ticket option allows about two hours. Rayna's own team handles the booking through to your voucher, so there is one place to go if anything needs sorting out.
