Cu Chi Tunnel And City Full Day Sharing Tour

This full-day tour from Ho Chi Minh City combines the wartime history of the Cu Chi Tunnels with an afternoon of city sightseeing, ending on the Saigon River. The tunnels sit around 70 kilometres northwest of the city, in a district once honeycombed with tunnels running many kilometres underground.

Hotel pickup is arranged in central District 1 in the early morning for the drive out to Cu Chi district.

Exploring the Cu Chi Tunnels

At the tunnels, a short documentary sets the scene before you walk through the site with your guide, seeing the underground network used during the Vietnam War, along with recreated bunkers, kitchens and workshops built into the tunnel system. Some short sections have been widened slightly from their original size so visitors can pass through them safely. You can try boiled cassava, a food eaten by the guerrilla fighters who lived here, and there is an optional shooting range on site for anyone who wants to try it.

After lunch at a local restaurant, the tour heads back into the city.

Cho Lon and Thien Hau Pagoda

In Cho Lon, Ho Chi Minh City's Chinatown district, first settled by Chinese immigrants generations ago and now one of the largest Chinatowns in Vietnam, you walk through its busy streets before visiting Thien Hau Pagoda, one of the city's oldest Chinese temples, known for its detailed roof carvings and courtyard incense coils.

Saigon Waterbus cruise

The day finishes with a ride on the Saigon Waterbus, taking in the skyline from the river as you pass Landmark 81, the Bitexco Financial Tower, a 68-storey building with a lotus-bud shaped design, and Vinhomes Central Park before returning to the pier.
