Cu Chi And Mekong Full Day Sharing tour

This full-day tour combines two of southern Vietnam's landmark sites in one trip from Ho Chi Minh City: the wartime Cu Chi Tunnels and the waterways of the Mekong Delta. An English-speaking guide leads the day, with transport, lunch and boat rides included.

Pickup starts in the morning from centrally located hotels in Ho Chi Minh City's District 1, with a return in the early evening after the Mekong Delta stretch of the day. Guests staying outside the pickup zone can meet the group at the tour office in District 1 instead.

Cu Chi Tunnels tour

The day begins with a guided walk through the Cu Chi Tunnels, the underground network Vietnamese guerrilla fighters used during the war. You can see the tunnel entrances, communal kitchens, weapons workshops and hospital areas built beneath the forest floor, and the guide explains the wartime survival techniques the network was built around. Some tunnel sections have been widened for visitors, though the layout still reflects the tight, low passages originally dug by hand. Before continuing to the next stop, guests are offered cassava and tea, the simple ration the fighters relied on at the time.

Mekong Delta boat trip

After lunch at a local restaurant, the tour continues to My Tho for a cruise on the Mekong River past Dragon, Unicorn, Phoenix and Turtle Islands. A stop at a local bee farm includes tastings of honey, honey tea, rice wine and banana wine, and a rowing boat carries the group along narrow coconut-lined canals. The day also takes in a coconut candy workshop in Ben Tre and a chance to sample tropical fruit while listening to live southern Vietnamese folk music.
