Fly Fish

Fly Fish in Dubai is a fast, bouncy ride on an inflatable raft shaped like the letter E, towed at speed across the water by a waverunner. Rayna Tours runs the activity along Dubai's coastline, seating two to five riders per raft for a 15-minute session.

The raft itself is built with side pontoons for stability and a large main float in the middle, so you lie or kneel and hold on as the waverunner pulls you along. As the boat driver builds up speed, the raft skips across the water's surface, swings sideways and lifts riders briefly into the air before dropping back down. Expect to be thrown around a fair amount during the ride, with plenty of shouting and laughing as the group works together just to stay on board. Between the sharper turns there are calmer stretches where you can catch your breath and take in the view along Dubai's shoreline from a low, fast-moving vantage point that few other water activities offer.

Every session starts with a safety briefing from the instructors and life jackets fitted before you set off, so the ride stays fun rather than stressful. You will need to be a confident swimmer or able to tread water, since you may end up in the sea if the raft tips during a sharp turn. A minimum of two people is required to run the activity, and the age limit is 12 years and above, with 10 to 12 year olds allowed only if accompanied by a parent or adult.
