Rayna's Oman Khasab Tour is a full day excursion from Dubai to Khasab, the capital of Oman's Musandam Peninsula, known for its fjords and mountain scenery. The trip runs for more than seven hours and combines an overland drive with a dhow cruise along the coast.

You can book this with private transfers, on a shared basis, or without transfers if you prefer to make your own way to the departure point. Where a transfer is included in your chosen option, your driver collects you from your Dubai hotel or residence for the drive north, crossing the UAE-Oman border into Musandam. The road runs along the base of the Hajar Mountains before reaching Khasab, giving you a close view of the peninsula's rugged terrain as the scenery shifts from city to mountains to sea.

Qadah village and the Portuguese fort

In Khasab, you stop at Qadah village to see rock carvings left by earlier generations, then continue to the ruins of an old Portuguese fort. Walking through what remains of the fort's walls gives a sense of the trading and defensive history that shaped this stretch of coast. Along the way you also pass a fishing village, where life continues much as it has for generations.

Dhow cruise through the Musandam fjords

The main part of the day is a cruise aboard a traditional Omani dhow, fitted out inside with cushions and carpets for a relaxed ride. The boat threads through the Musandam fjords, passing small coves and villages reachable only by water. Onboard, you are served refreshments, mineral water, soft drinks and a lunch with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.

The dhow anchors at Telegraph Island, where you can swim in the clear water and, depending on the day, spot dolphins alongside the boat. This stop is built around slowing down and enjoying the water rather than sightseeing, before the boat turns back toward Khasab.

Rayna's team manages the border crossing and the cruise itself, along with the transfers where your option includes them, so the day stays focused on the scenery. Carry your passport throughout, since the tour crosses into Oman and returns to the UAE at the end of the day.
