This Colombo city tour runs by tuk-tuk, with a driver-guide taking you through the capital's Dutch colonial core, its religious landmarks and its seafront promenade, starting at 7:00 am.

Hotel pickup (7:00 am onwards)

Your driver-guide collects you from your Colombo hotel in a tuk-tuk and gives you a short introduction to the route before setting off toward Colombo Fort. A welcome drink of king coconut water is served early on, and bottled water is provided throughout the day.

Colombo Fort and Pettah

The tuk-tuk weaves past the Clock Tower, the Dutch Hospital and the Old Town Hall, then into Pettah, where market stalls sell everything from spices to hardware along narrow streets. A stop at Kayman's Gate, a Dutch-era bell tower on the edge of the market, marks the move into Colombo's older quarters.

Kotahena and the lighthouse district

From Pettah, the route continues to the Red Mosque, Sri Ponnambalavaneswarar Kovil and Wolvendaal Church, three places of worship standing within a few streets of each other. The tuk-tuk then passes the Colombo Lighthouse and the Lotus Tower, whose roughly 350-metre spire makes it the tallest self-supported structure in South Asia, with a stop near Victoria Park.

Gangaramaya Temple and tea tasting

At Gangaramaya Temple, one of Colombo's best known Buddhist temples, and the nearby Colombo Port Maritime Museum, there is time to walk around before continuing to Independence Memorial Hall. A traditional Ceylon tea tasting session, included in the tour, offers a break partway through the day, and an umbrella is provided if the weather turns so the schedule does not need to change.

Galle Face Green and drop-off

The tour ends at Galle Face Green, the long seafront lawn next to the Old Parliament Building, before your driver-guide takes you back to your hotel. Rayna's local team in Colombo handles the booking and stays reachable throughout the day if plans need to change.
