Get to know the dynamic
capital city of Azerbaijan with our full day guided city tour of Baku. Visit
some of the city’s acclaimed symbols and experience its extraordinary contrasts
as you start your sightseeing at Inner City or Icheri Sheher and end your day
with a visit to the city’s most modern sights including Heydar Aliyev Center.
Begin your city tour
with a prompt hotel pick up. Travel straight to the heart of ancient Baku; Icheri
Sheher is dubbed as Baku’s Acropolis and is the first of its kind in the
country to be declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wander through this walled
city which is well preserved as a historical-architectural reserve, and step
back in time as you marvel at its many old, venerable landmarks such as
Maiden’s Tower, Shirvanshah Palace Complex and Castle Synyk Gala (most of which
date back between 7th century and 16th century).
Icheri Sheher is also
home to the world’s only Miniature Books Museum, featuring a massive repertoire
of books collected by the museum’s owner, Zarifa Salahova. You’ll get to see here
6500 plus books from over 65 countries. Next, get ready for a shift in the
scene as you follow your guide to the Highland Park or Viewing Square which is
considered one of Baku’s highest and most picturesque spots. Besides its super relaxed
ambience, you can expect to take in the best of the city views from here.
Continue your trip to
the iconic Flame Tower - a set of three flame-shaped towers (reflecting Baku’s
ancient fire worshiping tradition), and then set off to Baku National Boulevard
which is more than 100 years old and one of the city’s most favorite recreation
spots. Afterwards, you’ll head to Baku’s attractions like Fountains Square and Carpet
Museum with one of the world’s largest collections of carpet plus thousands of such
unique exhibits as ceramics, metal works, Bronze Age jewelry etc.
Before we drop you back
to your hotel, get a closer look at the Heydar Aliyev Center which is regarded
as the symbol of modern Baku for its intricately stunning curved-style
architecture.
