Surrounded by turquoise blue sea all around, Langkawi is an archipelago of 99 magnificent islands, a part of the Malaysian country. Culturally, Langkawi is believed to be a land of legends. Langkawi islands have history of pirate’s invasion along with Thai rule for a brief period after the British rule ended post the World War II. Langkawi was a sleepy island with simple inhabitants living a modest life of farmers, indifferent to change, until the arrival of Dr. Datuk Seri Mahathir Mohammad, who went on to become the prime minister of Malaysia. Once he came to power, he took great measures to modernize and develop Langkawi.

Langkawi island can be reached by Air from Kuala Lumpur through low cost airline Air Asia and silk Air. Tourists can also take the ferries running from Kuala Kedah, Kuala Perlis, and Penang. Langkawi also has direct route by ferry from Satun in Thailand.

To enter Malaysia, tourists do not require any visa and therefore, if you’re travelling to Langkawi after embarking in Malaysia, all you need are your travel documents like the passport and immigration papers. If you are coming directly from your home country, then the requirement of the documents will vary depending upon the citizenship.
